Wound Care

Professional assessment and treatment of wounds, including dressing changes and ongoing monitoring to support healing.

About Wound Care Service

Proper wound care is essential for preventing infection, supporting healing, and maintaining overall health. Many wounds require ongoing professional attention, especially when healing may be affected by age, medical conditions, or reduced mobility.

At Valour Health Services, our community nurses provide professional wound care in the comfort of the client’s home. We assess wounds carefully, apply appropriate dressings, and monitor the healing process to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Our nurses follow clinical best practices and work closely with healthcare providers to ensure wounds are managed safely and effectively. By providing regular monitoring and treatment, we help reduce complications while supporting comfort, recovery, and independence at home.

Who is this service for?

Veterans recovering from surgery who require wound care at home
Individuals with chronic wounds that need ongoing monitoring and treatment
Veterans with pressure injuries or skin breakdown
Individuals who require regular dressing changes
Veterans whose healing may be affected by chronic health conditions
Families seeking professional support to manage wound care safely at home

Accessing This Service Through DVA

Community nursing assessments may be available to eligible veterans through the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) Community Nursing Program. In most cases, a referral from a General Practitioner (GP) or healthcare professional is required before services can begin. Once a referral is received, our nursing team will arrange an assessment to determine the type and level of care required. If you are unsure about eligibility or how to begin the referral process, our team at Valour Health Services is happy to provide guidance and assistance.
